A note from Supporting Our Israel

To all of those who read this site, Thank you. It is truly incredible that within the short amount of time that it has been up, so many people, from all over the world, have been reading my words. Thank G-d, this site is really taking off. Please stay tuned for new articles, sections, guest writers and affiliates.

Last night, I attended a memorial at the White Shul in Far Rockaway, NY. I heard Dr. Yechiel Leiter, who spoke eloquently about the need to focus ourselves against our enemies. He said much more, but that is what I took away from it. It is important to know who and why you are doing what you are doing. Especially in the Middle East. Its incredible to hear the way the different Arab countries have weaved evil into their societies.

And of course, Moshe Goldsmith, the Mayor of Itamar. As exhausted as he was, he wowed the crowd with his perspective on the events of March 11th, 2011. His account of how he lives day to day, living over the Green Line in the Shomron, is still shocking to hear. Security systems, guns, murder by the hands of horrible evil and that the "settlers" are to blame, according to most, even sections of their own government!

One major thing I took away from the evening was this: Be Prepared. Not just for the bad things, but for everything. As it says (loosely translated) in Pirkei Avos (Ethics of our Fathers) - Know how to answer your detractors. Become involved in the numerous charities that support Israel, know how to answer Israel's detractors historically and presently, help build the economy by any way possible and, when the time is right (which is hopefully soon) make Aliyah. The best way to show your support is to actually live the life. Actually be part of the boom. Settle in any city you like and make it the best you can.

The only way to change a situation is to be instituted is for people to start being Proactive. Reactive works when needed, but Proactive begins growth during the times when Israel isn't reacting to something horrible happening. Binyamin Netanyahu had it right when he said that after the Itamar massacre, that we must build. I don't care if it is 100 units per murder victim or 1,000 or 10,000. Build it and they will come. People will come in droves.
